Exercising

One of my biggest issues is the motivation to work out. Never once in my life had I been required to run on my own. It had always been during school.

But now, two years out of school, I'm required to drop 13 pounds by the end of summer. I've lost maybe two pounds. I'm roughly about 149, so I'm getting no where. So something has to change, and so I'm changing my diet and I'm going to start working out more vigorously.

I have 85 days until I ship out to Great Lakes. 85 days to learn EVERYTHING in my Start guide. And I've learned maybe a total of... One thing. One. Not two. One.

Some future sailor I'm turning out to be.

But, I'm cracking down. Studying. Exercising. Eating right. 85 days.

Oh boy.

Anyways, tips for studying!! I always hated studying in school, actually I'm pretty sure I never did.

So, my tips come from movies!!

why didn't I think of that?!

So I've been reciting my Sailor's Creed, when I'm working. While I'm running or biking and while I'm laying down before bed.

I am a United States Sailor
I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States of America and I will obey the orders of those appointed over me.
I represent the fighting spirit of the Navy and those who have gone before me to defend freedom and democracy around the world.

That's really the only study tip I'm using. So far so good.

AIRC - Aircrew Program

May 2nd 2012 is the date I enlisted in the United States Navy,

May 2nd 2012 is the date I stood with 6 young men in a small room with pictures of President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden along with other pictures of key people in the United States and the military.

May 2nd 2012 is the date I swore in as an enlisted member of the United States Navy.

Future Sailor Peak, is my referred to name when spoken too. Or simply Recruit Peak.


But besides swearing in on that day, the only reason I swore in to begin with is my rate that I obtained. 

AIRC or AIRCREW
Aircrew Candidates, such as myself, must enter this broad rate for an enlistment of 4 years. But, must also sign at the same time an agreement to prolong the enlistment of 24 months. Two years. 

I signed, and I am enlisted for 6 years of active duty, and two years of reserve duty.

The first step for AIRC is getting in shape. I'm 5'3 and I'm currently 150 lbs. I'm not above my weight limit which is 152, I am close. But I still got the rate, my ASVAB scores were successful. I am in the Delayed Entry Program or DEP and I have time to get in shape. I ship out October 23rd for basic training and my recruiter wants me to drop a pound a week until then. 

In bold letters on the pamphlet MEPs gave me for my job rating it says: They will undergo some of the most demanding physical training offered by the military services.

Sweet right?

Until I think about how physically fit I am. 

Then it gets real.

If I ever had to run for my life, I would most likely die.

For aircrew you have to swim hard, run hard, and work hard. 

Secretly I established a very hard to reach goal for myself, because when I reach it, everything will be possible at that point.

After basic training I'll be leaving for NACCS or Naval Aircrew Candidate School in Pensacola, Florida. Then I will receive my actual rate and not just the general rate. But, I hope that while I'm down there and I am in good physical shape that I will qualify for Rescue Swimmer. AIRR...

That program is the real reason I wanted to join the Navy, saving peoples lives.

First Post!

Its late at night, and I'm sitting here thinking of all the things I need to do to prepare for the Navy....

E.V.E.R.Y.T.H.I.N.G

I was given a swell little booklet with everything I need to learn, and the only thing I've managed to learn and recite is the phonetic alphabet.

I've got that down pat. Yankee Alpha Yankee!!

Or YAY if you couldn't figure that out on your own.



*Maybe, if I tried to retain information, I'd get it all down pat.*

So, that's why I have this nifty little blog!! 
Oh. My. Word.
Blogging! ME? Yes, I'll try it again...

Sooooo, I'm deleting facebook! That way I can't read everyone else's drama, just my own!

That's really how it should be annnyway.

So, here goes, my first blog post, and with every post I'll try and add my weight, I've got to drop 15 lbs by the end of summer. 

I ship off to basic training October 23rd!
*gasp*

That leaves me....  14 weeks. OR. 3 1/2 months.
